The money allocated towards the Tampa Police Department’s Homeless Liaison fund is designed to give officers assigned to this unit a working budget to utilize in assisting the homeless. This unit is filled by two full-time police officers that work directly with the homeless population each day, throughout the city of Tampa. The Homeless Liaison Unit was founded by the Tampa Police Department over ten years ago and has assisted countless homeless subjects transition from the street to successful housing options.

The funds are used to obtain clothing for job interviews, purchase bus passes to attend job interviews/medical appointments, relocate homeless subjects to the other states/jurisdictions that they are initially from. 

This budget is exclusively used for purposes that are designed to assist homeless persons find solutions to end their homeless situation.
